This is largely due to the various narrative measures that begin to appear from the very beginning. It is worth noting – we are not disappointed that the game does not have many story lines. The dialogue options do not have much impact on the story we learn, because it still follows one track, but it allows for some deviations from the chosen track. We always get a few conversation options and a time limit, but at the same time, in the first few seconds, we have the option of an aggressive response, which is emphasized by appropriate graphic effects and the tone of thrown-out sentences, which has an impact on our interlocutor. The rather fast-paced action shows, however, that the world looks a bit different than we think, and the horrors that plague us are not what we think.Ī well-thought-out system of dialogues helps significantly in building a story. As for a paid killer (let’s say), we are not supposed to ask questions, do what someone tells us to do and return to our den afterwards.

Thanks to this, by devoting three evenings to the game, I did not feel bored even for a moment, and the well-balanced level of difficulty (the game seems difficult, but it all breaks down to getting to know it properly) made me unable to tear myself away from it and I devoted every free moment of the picnic to the guest running in a kimono with a katana in his paw. Katana ZERO, despite being based on the same scheme (short and intense boards, death after contact with an opponent) is primarily a 2D platformer in which the main character has the ability to slow down time, which is an integral part of the game. He looked at what was good about Dennaton’s title and reworked it in his own way so that fans of this type of game would quickly feel like a fish in the water, getting something fresh.

Fortunately, Askiidoft went to his senses when creating Katana ZERO. Other developers did not combine and simply copied most of the assumptions of Hotline Miami. On the one hand, Dennaton Games did not want to give up the gameplay inspired by twin stick shooters, but on the other – releasing the same thing means putting players to the test of loyalty. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number showed how difficult it is to repeat a success taken from an idea, which, not wanting to cut off coupons, stepped apart. Here, rewrite it, but change a little until you do not recognize it … Katana ZERO would probably have been the fate of many indie games, had it not been for the title being completely off my radar until release. There are so many pixel games that I have been feeling overwhelmed with them for a long time and when I see another turkey in this style, I shake my nose and look away.
